Have you ever wondered why people think Chiropractic wont work for them? Is the concept to simple? We all understand that when a breaker trips in our panel in our basement (usually covered by boxes of stuff that we forgot we even had), that when that breaker trip, the power goes out and what ever was connected to that breaker does not work. Our bodies work the same way. If the nerve carrying messages from the brain to a body part are blocked by a subluxation (a bone out of place that stops the flow of information and energy over a nerve), then whatever is on the end of that nerve does not work right and sometimes not at all. That is why Chiropractors can help people when it seems like there is no hope. If you are suffering, don't give up, there is still hope for you.

The Politics of Health

With all this bailout buzz going around, everyone is wondering what the effects are going to be on our health care system and ultimately on us. It is difficult to say just how big of an impact the government will have on our health care system but if history repeats itself, the effects will not be good.

JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what can you do for your country." Our government can not solve our health care crisis. We must solve it so the government does not have to worry about it. To solve the health care crisis we must start with knowing two things:
1 where we are now and
2 where we are going.

Where are we - The current health care crisis is not that we rank 21st to 38th in the world in health care, or that we spend way too much money for poor results, or that prescription drugs are killing hundreds of thousands of people each year. (I could go on but you get the point.) These are all symptoms. The crisis is two fold. First, most people have no idea what health is and second that even if everyone knew what health is, there is no plan. In fact, here is the average Americans 'health plan" in action.

Step 1. Do nothing. Literally, we are a society of lazy, TV watching bums. 50 years ago the average 20 year old could do 20 chin ups, now the average 20 year old would be lucky to get 3.
Step 2. Eat like crap. According to our government, the most eaten vegetable is a french fry. Don't even get me started.
Step 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2.
Step 4. Develop a symptom and ignore it.
Step 5. Once ignoring it fails, try and over the counter drug.
Step 6. Try another.
Step 7. See step 4.
Step 8. Go see your MD and get a prescription drug.
Step 9. Try a different prescription drug.
Step 10. Have a surgery to remove something.
Step 11. Sue your MD

This would truly be funny if it weren't so true. The basic problem is no one ever thinks to address what health is and try to attain that. In the simplest terms, health is every part of your body functioning at 100%, all of the time.

All your body parts + 100% function + 100% of the time = Health

This is why drugs and surgery can never produce health. Drugs do not give 100% function and if you have a surgery and have something taken out, then you no longer have 100% of your body, so you can never be truly healthy.

Real health comes from within, it is a mindset and a lifestyle. It involves making better choices, like healthy eating, core supportive exercise, stress management and, of course, regular Chiropractic care. When you put all of this together, amazing changes will happen to your health.
